28 Things I’ve Learned In 28 Years

I’m official46767682_272279290103464_1446440961629248965_n(1)y 28 years old!

Yup, I’m two years away from 30. I thought the closer I got to thirty the worse I would feel about my age.  But this year it’s been the complete opposite. I’m welcoming my late 20’s with arms wide open. There has been a lot of Crap jammed into these 28 years of mine and I’m thankful for all of it. For all of the ups and definitely the downs. I’m the person I am today because of every time I’ve fallen flat on my face. And maybe I’ve fallen flat on my face more than I’d like to admit.. but I’ve figured out a thing or two along the way. Here’s 28 things I’ve learned in my 28 years.

  1. You’re going to gain some weight and you’re going to lose some weight.. either way you are STILL BEAUTIFUL. I’ve struggled with weight gained after both of my pregnancy’s and finally after my second baby i’m okay with a little extra weight. It’ll come off. I know the basics and how-to’s. It’s all okay.
  2. The number on the scale doesn’t define you.
  3. If you’re having a bad day just put on the leggings. No one has time for pants AND a crappy day!!
  4. Tell your loved ones how much you love them.. EVERYDAY. After my first son was diagnosed with cancer I realized VERY quickly how fragile life is. You don’t know what tomorrow holds.
  5. When someone wrongs you, you don’t have to do the same. Take the high road. Wish them well and live YOUR life.. even if that means completely starting over.
  6. Preset the coffee maker at night. Waking up to fresh coffee is seriously the best gift you can give yourself.
  7. You’re never done working on yourself. It’s an everyday task that you MUST keep doing.
  8. Sometimes your plans fall through. That’s okay.. figure out a new plan. I can’t tell you how many times my plans have fell through. Just to name a few.. My first marriage, the TWO times I dropped out of college, that job interview I was banking on after becoming a dental assistant. The list goes on and on.. but it’ll all turned out just fine. Like I said.. thankful for falling on my face.
  9. Being a mom is a blessing but also the HARDEST job i’ll ever have. I’m so thankful for my children.. I’M SO THANKFUL!! I almost lost my first son, trust me, I’m thankful. But trying to figure out how to raise decent humans.. it’s rough, Y’all. I just want to get this right and most days I feel like i’m getting it all wrong.
  10. No one is going to care about your dreams as much as you. So keep pushing forward.
  11. Don’t over think things so much. I’m an expert at overthinking and gosh is it exhausting. I’m still trying to figure out how to stop overthinking so much.. it’s a work in progress.
  12. Don’t EVER go Platinum blonde again. I thought it was a good idea but boy is it a pain in the butt to upkeep.
  13. Life is happening for you, not to you. Everything that i’ve gone through has taught me something and molded me into the person I am told… and I really like who I am.
  14. It may seem like a big deal when it’s all happening.. but it’s really not. Relax!
  15. You are the only one responsible for you’re own happiness.
  16. Stretch. You NEED to STRETCH!! It’s only a few minutes out of your day.
  17. Before you decide to love anyone, you HAVE to Love yourself and Love yourself hard!
  18. Give yourself Grace.
  19. Try your best to not listen to the negativity. It will drag you down and you don’t have time for it.
  20. Get ready everyday. Even if you aren’t going anywhere. I promise you will feel better.
  21. Drink plenty of water. You get headaches if you don’t.
  22. Prep your food for the following week.
  23. What others think of me is NONE of my business.
  24. There will be problems in all your relationships. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows.
  25. When you find the person that accepts your mess and loves you for it. Keep em.
  26. Yoga is good for the soul.
  27. Everyone will let you down at some point and that’s okay.. But don’t let yourself down. And if you do, don’t make a habit out of it.

I’m still working on #28 but aren’t we all a work-in-progress? What are some things you’ve learned along the way? I’d love to hear some.
